The Fan Voice: "'08-'09 Magic Dancers - Click Here! Photos Inside!"
By Live or Die Magic | August 29th, 2008
Well, Labor Day weekend is upon us, which means vacations or weekend getaways for many of us. It means beach excursions, suntan lotion, and bikinis! And hey, speaking of bikinis (wow, what a segue!), I’d like to point out an event that slipped a bit under the radar recently, what with all the Phelps, Favre’s, and Fay’s around these parts of late. The Orlando Magic held their tryouts for the 2008-2009 Magic Dancer team! This momentous event was staged out at the Motion nightclub on Disney’s Pleasure Island back on August 15th. I’m very upset that my invitation got lost in the mail.
You may not realize this, but each year, the dancers have to re-audition to make the team, even if they have been on the team for several years. This is a commitment to excellence on the part of those that run the dance team; they are wanting to make sure that the best possible squad is chosen each year. The team saw a roster turnover of 25%. Of the 20 girls on this season’s squad, 15 are returnees from last year, with 5 rookies.
Holdovers from the 2007-2008 squad include the following:
Trinity (now in her 2nd season with the team)
Tara (now in her 2nd season with the team)
Shana (now in her 5th season with the team)
Sarah (now in her 2nd season with the team)
Rachael (now in her 4th season with the team)
Megan (the ever popular team leader, in her 5th season with the team)
Mary (now in her 2nd season with the team)
Lacey (now in her 2nd season with the team)
Kelly (now in her 2nd season with the team)
Heather (now in her 2nd season with the team)
Erin (now in her 4th season with the team)
Deanna (team leader, now in her 5th season with the team)
I can’t help noticing that neither of the two “Kim’s” who have been on the team for quite some time are not on this year’s squad. I don’t know whether this is because they chose not to try out or they didn’t make the cut, but regardless, I wish them well.
You may consider lamenting the fact that Former Magic Dancer April was not among the participants nor is she likely to be rejoining the Magic Dancer team anytime soon. But that is my cross to bear. Since I can no longer have a single favorite dancer, I now spread the wealth among several dancers.
DEANNA I’ll always appreciate Deanna for the time she took with those of us who attended the Magic Message Board gathering last January.
MARY Mary really impressed me as a rookie last year for the exuberance she showed at the games.
MEGAN Megan…well, Megan is a UCF grad and a beauty pageant contestant…nuff said.
DANIELLE
LACEY As for Danielle and Lacey….well, do I have to give a good solid reason?
Of the rookies, I am looking forward to seeing how Jenna and Brittany do.
JENNA
BRITTANY
So, in case you thought the offseason was only about ridiculous trade proposals and “insider info,” now you have something to ponder! Who will be your favorite Magic dancer?

I'm starting to believe that whomever is in charge of picking the Magic Dancers has some sort of weird fetish for girls with large foreheads.
And that concludes my "I'm a guy posting on the internet so I should come up with ridiculous criticisms of attractive women whose pictures are on the internet" quota for the day.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Former A-10 standouts and Associated Press National Players of the Year Jameer Nelson of Saint Joseph's and Xavier's David West have been named to the NBA All-Star team and will square off Feb. 15 in Phoenix, Ariz. It marks Nelson's first All-Star selection, while West earns his second straight honor.

Your idea? Get real! For your thread you basically threw together a couple of semi-coherent sentences and a link. I had Dancer blog planned for just before Labor Day for a while now. Sure, when I saw your little thread earlier this week I was chagrined that others wouldn't see this as new, but don't ever think you dictate what I choose to write or not.
Keep dreaming pal.
