take it for what its worth. Junkie wasn't sure to post it, so I'm doing the dirty work, lol. Don't turn this into a thread questioning sources and validation. just for discussion purposes.
- Denton was correct in his article; Magic are looking to split their MLE. I hated hearing this, but they need to fill out roster spots and this is all they have. Because they are spliting the MLE, it'll be hard to get the guy(s) we really want.
- Otis and Bass want each other but $$$ is not there. Bass wants MLE and, as just stated, Otis is spliting it amongst players. If by the grace of God, no one offers Bass MLE, we might be able to sign him for CHEAP. Teams are scared to spend so there's a lil' hope. Also a concern is Cuban's willingness to spend. He likes Bass, but Mavs also have a 2010 plan and he won't jeapordize it. We'll see how that plays out, but there is a lot of mutual interest.
- Gortat - Magic will match offers for him. Gortat was told to go out and get an offer and we'll match. He did, so we will.
- Turk - ain't coming back.
- Sheed - Likely ends up in Boston. Our unwillingness to spend the whole MLE on 1 player is affecting us with the vet bigs. We like him but can't afford him. Same with Dyess.
- Grant Hill - Not happening.
- Summer League - Magic really like Pargo and hope to sign him. He's gotta prove is worth first. Magic also keeping an eye on Powell.
- Other possible FAs - Carney & Bogans were the only names I could get. Bogans and Stan have beef so we'll see what happens there.
- Pietrus is coming off the bench. Vince will play 3, and as it currently stands, JJ will start (oh God).
again, this is what we're hearing so don't shoot the messenger(s), lol. Props to Junkie for letting me post the info.

interesting. I doubt JJ starts. If I had to bet on one thing happening this offseason i'd take JJ remaining on the bench.
This all sounds pretty believable. Happy to hear we'll match any offer for Marcin but if he's dead set on being a starter then I doubt he comes back.
I don't see a team outside Dallas offering Bass the MLE and they seem to be clearing space to land a top tier FA in 2010 along with Dirk. I think he expires in 2010 as well.
I never held hope for Hill and always thought Sheed was out of our reach to begin with.
Pargo and Powell would be good signs but JJ starting means this offseason is a failure IMO.

1) Doesn't matter what he's dead set on, we can match any offer we choose, and there's nothing he can do about it. 2) Who knows what Dallas is doing. They've also got to re-sign Kidd or they gave Harris away for nothing. 3) Agreed, and Sheed is done. The frenzy for him is hilarious. 4) No matter who starts, Pietrus and Carter will be on the floor in crunch time.

apparently Kidd has already been offered a 3 year deal with dallas
Thanks for posting this info. I think resigning Gortat is a very prudent move even if we don't plan on giving him many additional minutes. At the the MLE salary he will be a great trade asset in the future and we may be able to get tremendous value for him at the trade deadline depending on how desperate teams are for a center. Also, there is always the possibility that he improves his shot and develops into a viable PF option next to Dwight.

1) Forgot that
2) I don't think they are going to resign Kidd. He's making his decision in a few weeks per sources. Also it is widely accepted that the Kidd for Harris trade was a massive mistake. They mortgaged the future for a small window and it backfired. Cuban has stated he wants to be a player in the 2010 offseason
3) Same
4) Agree, but starting JJ is a huge, HUGE bullseye on our backs.

quote:
The Mavericks reportedly offered Jason Kidd about $9 million per season over three years when Mark Cuban and the point guard met on Wednesday, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard. Cuban said later that he is "really happy" with the results of the meeting. The Knicks won't be able to come close to that offer and it appears that Kidd is likely to stay with the Mavericks.
