I'm thrilled that he played so well, but I'm gravely concerned that his free throw shooting seemingly continues to digress instead of improve.
And for those that defend Dwight as though he is god regardless of situation or logic, 15 feet is 15 feet, whether it is an NBA game of a FIBA game, so please save me that excuse.
While I do expect him to improve before the start of the season, I'm not going to pretend that this is not an area of critical concern.

i think coach k ran a good bit of post plays for dwight, especially in the first quarter, it's important to have a happy dwight for other games, so this was a great game to get dwight going, that and germany was respecting the hell out of our perimeter shot, sometimes leaving one guy on dwight, or even leaving a switched off sf to fend against dwight.

Its definitely an area of concern. And his form isn't even that bad - so it seems like something that you can work with. Orlando needs to hire that FT coach Dwight was working with and just let him work with Dwight permanently. I think 70% is realistic.
otherwise, excellent display by Superman today.

it was mostly an easy 22 points...wide open dunks and layups around the basket, thanks to the great vision and ball handling of guys like Kidd, LeBron and Co.
but it was 22 points...and 22 points is 22 points.

He did that some against Spain, I think he is wanting to go at opposing bigs and try and get some fouls on them.

So what? If he plays with that kind of luxury why shouldn't he just leap over every player and connect on easy buckets? You sound as if your disappointed that he didn't iso and hit hook shots on all his field goals. Maybe he should just take some step back fadeaways and spin like a Tasmanian devil while shooting sky hooks. Then it would appear to the critics that he has some kind of post game.

I'm not disappointed at all...like I said, 22 points is 22 points...but:
1) People on this board are making it into a huge deal...It was a very easy 22 points for just about any NBA player. Yes, there were some plays that only a select few (like Dwight) can make...but the majority of those plays could have been made by Howard...ahem...Juwan Howard. They may not have been as pretty as Dwight's 22 points, but they would still be the same ole' 22 points. Lets say that Dwight scored 2 buckets that Juwan couldn't have. But now, add the fact that Juwan is a better FT shooter, and it gets to about 20-22 points.
2) The US won by 49. Everything was easy. If Dwight scored 22 in a 109-100 victory, that'd be a little more impressive. This was wayyyy too easy and the Germans stopped playing with about 10mins left in the first quarter.
I'm just sayin, these 22 points were overblown...that's all.

Doug Collins in particular is really starting to tick me off.
He's trying to make it sound like Dwight is a scrub when he's only really struggled in two of the five games, China and Greece. It was lame foul calls on Dwight against Greece that led to foul trouble, by the way.
But he dominated against mismatched Angola, shut down Pau Gasol in the Spain game, and just had his best all around game in pool play on both ends against Germany's huge front line, which was the only thing they really had going for them.
So despite what NBC's coverage would like you to believe, Dwight's been good, and starting to peak at the right time which is just as we're going into the medal round. He hasn't been "Dwayne Wade spectacular" or anything, but he's been real good (other than the free throw shooting).
P.S. Dwight's rebounding and D was more impressive than his scoring against Germany.
The SG Truth: 1. Mickael Pietrus 2. Courtney Lee 3. Who cares?

I see what your saying YFP, I certainly wasn't blown away by the performance either, it was a solid performance. That being said, he still has to get himself into the position to receive the ball from his teammates. He's still the only player that sets screens (effectively), and works hard to run with the team and make himself available for those "wide open" dunks.
You're not gonna see the Dwight that we'll see in the regular season during these Olympics. The big men on this USA team aren't going to isolate one-on-one very often (which is evident by Bosh's role on the team), that will be done on many occasions by the guards. They're relied on by this team to focus on defense, rebound, and finish passes that are presented to them, and I would say they've done a fine job of that.
We'll see what Dwight's got when the season begins, but as of now, these simple dunks, layups, etc. is all your gonna see from these guys during these games.
