I made a topic complaining that his overall was way too low (A 55) and one guy posted comparing Redicks and Carters stats for the season and said Redick was doing a better overall job and this guy replied to it saying this.
quote:
Comparing them statistically is not a fair or logical. Vince carter is one of the the stars of the team so he will shoot many contested shoots as well as trying to create a shot at the end of the shot clock which is a low percentage shot. The defense is prepared to stop the stars and give up the shots to the role players such as JJ. I haven't watched a magic game but I am pretty sure Redick is not shooting contested 3's like carter is nor are they giving them the ball at the end of the shoot clock and saying make something happen. In comparison I am sure Steve Kerr had higher shooting percentages than Jordan in some stretches but that doesn't give anything to Kerr or take anything away from Jordan. I do not think carter is over rated but I do think they have taken in to account more of what he has done in the past instead of what he is doing now. Don't know his rating but if it is in the low 80's then that is fine. He is a proven all star who can still take over a game. As far as JJ you really can't give someone a high rating averaging 10 ppg. Reddick is a shooter and that is it. Not gonna create his own shoot, blow past you, grab rebounds or guard one of your best offensive players. The players with high ratings are good at more than one thing. Furthermore it is a video game. As long as he has a decent 3 ( somewhere in the 80's) and ok midrange stop complaining. What else should he be able to do?
IMO this guy is WAY off target. He's comparing Redick to his college days, not the way he plays now.
definitly sounds like a guy who hasn't watched a Magic game this year...
his points about stars vs roll players is accurate, they do see more attention and handle the ball in higher pressure situtations... That could be a small reason why Vince has been bad, but he's dealt with that his whole career. He puts himself in low percentage situations by driving into the lane and getting caught in the air off balance.
JJ has taken the step beyond just being a shooter. been creating shots, in essence, off screens and being more fearless driving the lane. JJ isn't scared on defense and can be found grabbing big rebounds on defense.
He's def beyond a 55 this season...

He's right when it comes to Vince being forced into bad situations, but he's wrong about JJ's game.
Long story short, the ratings in 2K are a joke.

He has incredibly valid points. Vince Carter is the only player who is consistently capable of dribbling twice and creating a makeable look. When the Magic are in a tough situation, it isn't Dwight taking a 29 foot jumpshot, it's Vince. Honestly I think I remember Kitno saying something about JJ being reluctant to take bad shots even when its in the offense's best interest and after paying months of close attention, well, I can't disagree with that assessment

I don't remember exactly what the default ratings were, but the Magic were something like a 78 as a team. The LeBrons, Celtics, Hawks, Sixers, and a couple of other teams were all better...in just the East. Blazers got screwed on ratings too.
